Iceland? People live there?

My brother told me awhile back that the best place to listen to music is in your car. A very true statement. I find myself constantly driving to school or to work or to church with just me and my best friend, music. Music will drive you to many different emotions (no pun intended). Whether you are headbanging to Muse or being uplifted by Coldplay, driving alone with a great song always makes my day.

Sigur Ros has been a recent favorite. I have always been an advent fan of their music, their ambience, and their style. And yes, they sing in Icelandic, so for the most part I don't understand a word that they are singing. But like the majority of teens today, I will go with the excuse "I just like the beat, or I just like the melody". And when you listen to Sigur Ros, it's a fact. Just by listening to Sigur Ros, i feel that Icelandic is one of the most eloquent languages that I have heard. Grant it, lead singer Jonsi Birgisson sings his own made-up language called "Hopelandic" for some of his songs, but Sigur Ros's melodies are heavenly.

One of their songs that I play constantly in the car is called "Glosoli", or "Glowing Sun". Amazing, amazing, amazing. Warning though: if you are not a fan of songs that will lift you off the ground, don't listen to this. Even without knowing the lyrics, Sigur Ros's fame has grown immensely in the music industry. In the end of "Glosoli" is where you feel the music begin to touch your soul. Yes, it sounds very queer to say, but music like this is definitely heavenly.
